As MAP expands its creative ecosystem through books, toys, educational products, podcasts, animation, apparel, and original intellectual property, the organization is building sustainable revenue streams that support long-term mission impact.

Every product purchased helps strengthen programs, expand opportunities, and support children and families experiencing housing instability.

Role Overview

The Senior Director of Social Enterprise & Consumer Products serves as the senior leader responsible for all consumer products, merchandise, licensing opportunities, social enterprise initiatives, and earned revenue activities across Mentor A Promise.

This role oversees the strategic development, commercialization, growth, and management of MAP's product ecosystem, including books, toys, apparel, educational products, accessories, branded merchandise, future consumer products, and mission-aligned revenue initiatives.

Working closely with PromiseStudios, PromisePages, PromiseLantern, PromiseBrands, PromiseTrust, and Executive Leadership, this leader helps build a sustainable social enterprise model that strengthens financial sustainability while advancing MAP's mission.

The Senior Director helps transform creativity, storytelling, intellectual property, and community engagement into meaningful products that create both impact and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

Social Enterprise Strategy

• Develop and lead MAP's social enterprise strategy
• Build earned-revenue initiatives that support organizational sustainability
• Establish long-term growth plans and business objectives
• Identify new market opportunities and revenue streams
• Align social enterprise initiatives with MAP's mission and strategic priorities

Consumer Products Leadership

• Oversee MAP's consumer products portfolio
• Lead development and expansion of books, toys, apparel, educational products, accessories, and future product categories
• Evaluate product opportunities and market potential
• Ensure product quality, consistency, and mission alignment
• Guide long-term product portfolio planning

Merchandise & Retail Operations

• Oversee merchandise strategy, sales performance, and operational effectiveness
• Support e-commerce growth and customer experience initiatives
• Monitor inventory, fulfillment, and operational processes
• Strengthen merchandising and product launch strategies
• Improve overall product performance and customer engagement

Licensing & Brand Expansion

• Identify licensing, publishing, and partnership opportunities
• Collaborate with PromiseTrust on intellectual property protection and licensing agreements
• Support franchise and brand-extension opportunities
• Explore opportunities for retail, educational, and mission-aligned distribution channels
• Strengthen MAP's long-term intellectual property value

Revenue Growth & Business Development

• Establish annual revenue goals and growth targets
• Monitor sales performance and earned-income initiatives
• Develop recommendations for revenue expansion
• Support strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities
• Build systems that promote long-term financial sustainability

Cross-Divisional Collaboration

• Partner with PromiseStudios on books, media, and creative assets
• Collaborate with PromisePages on publishing initiatives
• Work closely with PromiseLantern on character-driven products and storytelling properties
• Support marketing initiatives with PromiseBrands
• Partner with leadership to align products with organizational priorities

Analytics & Performance Management

• Analyze customer trends and purchasing behaviors
• Monitor revenue performance and growth opportunities
• Develop reports and recommendations for leadership
• Support data-informed decision-making
• Establish performance dashboards and success metrics

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer products, merchandise, retail, licensing, publishing, social enterprise, business development, brand management, product management, fundraising, or related fields
• Strong understanding of revenue generation and growth strategy
• Experience managing products, brands, or consumer-facing initiatives
• Strong analytical, strategic, and business planning abilities
• Experience working across creative, operational, and leadership teams
• Passion for mission-driven entrepreneurship and social impact
