RN Electrophysiology

The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) provides specialized nursing care in the cardiac electrophysiology lab, assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures such as electrocardiograms, ablations, and device implants. The role involves patient preparation, equipment management, intra-procedural monitoring, and documentation using Epic. The EP RN collaborates closely with physicians, anesthesia, and the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective patient care during procedures. Proficiency in moderate sedation and strong communication skills are essential. A minimum of 2 years nursing experience and current NY RN licensure are required. Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients and equipment for electrophysiology procedures and interventions.
• Monitor procedural readouts and recordings, assisting with lab analysis and interpretation.
• Assist physicians with pacing implementation and implantation of cardiac devices.
• Maintain sterile field and manage fluids during ablation procedures as circulator.
• Provide patient-focused care during studies and ablations, assisting anesthesia and documenting procedures in Epic.
• Coordinate room turnover and ensure timely starts for scheduled procedures.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, third-party vendors, and in-room staff to ensure availability of equipment and personnel.
• Provide backup pacing during device implants and assist with patient monitoring.

• Current Registered Nurse license in New York State (NY RN license).
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Proficiency in moderate sedation techniques.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records for procedural documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience with cardiac implant or structural heart scrub procedures.
• Familiarity with GE MacLab and CardioLab systems.
• Knowledge of electrophysiology mapping systems such as Biosense Webster Carto, Abbott Ensite/Precision, and Rhythmia.

• Must be able to work holidays, evenings, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Work primarily involves 12-hour shifts, mostly daytime with some late night coverage.
• Must coordinate with multiple team members and vendors to ensure procedural readiness.
• Work environment includes sterile procedure rooms requiring strict adherence to infection control protocols.

• Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week.
• Shifts primarily during the day with some evening and holiday shifts.
• On-call and call shifts assigned based on unit needs.
