Staff Accountant - Satellite Industries, Inc

Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant serves in the finance department and helps ensure that all accounting transactions are processed and posted accurately and timely through reconciliation of accounts. The right person for this role will have an excellent ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, strong reconciliation and research skills, knowledge of GAAP accounting and strong Excel skills. Must be willing to work overtime as required to meet various deadlines and must have excellent communication skills. 

Pay: The targeted pay range for this job is $65,000 - 70,000 annually. Satellite considers a variety of factors when determining new hire pay including experience, qualifications, and, when applicable, certifications, licenses, and education.

Essential Functions:

• Assist Controller in month end close process.
• Generate and post month end closing entries.
• Monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts in a timely manner, including researching the cause of variances and unusual transactions.
• Assist Controller in compiling information for external auditors and tax accountants as prepared.
• Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of sales and property tax returns.
• Assist with sales tax and property tax audits.
• Assist with sales tax reporting and revenue invoicing
• Provide assistance and direction in understanding GAAP requirements and process improvement.
• Special projects and other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory role.
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or degree in business with equivalent accounting experience
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with accounting software; Sage X3
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite with advanced Excel Skills necessary
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience with sales tax

Physical/Mental Demands:
Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines. This position is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and scanners.

 

Compensation:

The pay range listed is the base pay range that Satellite Shelters, inc/Satellite Industries, Inc. reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
