You'll make fast, informed decisions, manage urgent surgical cases, and provide compassionate communication to pet owners during difficult times. You'll be supported by skilled technicians and staff who share your dedication to emergency medicine.Key ResponsibilitiesMedical & Surgical CareDiagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions in small animals, including dogs, cats, and small mammals. Perform medical and surgical procedures as appropriate to patient needs. Maintain full medical authority and responsibility over patients under your care. Utilize sound clinical judgment to determine when referral to a specialist is required. Client & Referring Veterinarian CommunicationCommunicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis. Maintain respectful and collaborative relationships with referring veterinarians (RDVMs). Educate clients to ensure understanding of their pet's condition and care plan. Patient Care & AdvocacyProvide compassionate care that recognizes the emotional bond between pet owners and their animals. Ensure humane, ethical, and professional treatment of all patients. Advocate for patient welfare while balancing client needs and clinic protocols. Professionalism & Team CollaborationWork collaboratively with veterinary nurses, technicians, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated care. Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with clients, staff, and referring veterinarians.Contribute to a positive and respectful workplace environment grounded in teamwork and mutual respect. Compliance & DocumentationMaintain accurate, thorough, and timely medical records in accordance with legal and organizational standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, licensing requirements, and clinic policies. Safeguard confidentiality of patient information and records. Continuous Learning & DevelopmentParticipate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain and enhance clinical skills. Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and best practices.
