Manufacturing Cell Supervisor

Your shift starts on the floor. You scan yesterday’s metrics, gather the team for a quick pre-shift huddle, and align everyone on safety reminders, quality priorities, output targets, and any open issues. You refresh the communication boards so the plan of the day is visible to all.

As production ramps, you monitor parts flow through your cell, step in to support machine operation, and verify operators are following work instructions and quality checks. When a nonconformance appears, you halt and contain, communicate immediately, and coordinate with Quality to resolve the issue.

An Andon call lights up. You respond, perform basic troubleshooting, and if needed, escalate via the defined process while looping in Maintenance. You execute minor corrections yourself where appropriate and open or complete maintenance work orders to keep equipment reliable.

Mid-shift, you coach a new team member on proper work methods, safety procedures, and quality standards. You also rotate into a station to provide temporary coverage when an operator steps away, ensuring the line continues to flow.

Throughout the day, you conduct 5S and safety audits—verifying guards, PPE usage, and housekeeping—then capture opportunities for improvement. You encourage the team to submit ideas, facilitate quick problem-solving, and help drive continuous improvement in processes, products, and systems.

As the shift winds down, you update KPIs, communicate any staffing or downtime concerns to leadership, and prepare the next team with clear status notes. You lead by example—reliable attendance, professionalism, teamwork, and positive energy—so the culture you want is the culture you live.

• Direct daily production activity and keep parts moving smoothly through the assigned area.
• Support operators with machine operation, work processes, and inspection checkpoints.
• Train, coach, and upskill team members on equipment, quality, safety, and standard work.
• Watch quality continuously; flag and communicate nonconforming parts immediately.
• Triage equipment issues; perform basic fixes and coordinate with Maintenance/Quality when escalation is required.
• Execute minor equipment corrections and submit/complete maintenance work orders.
• Respond to Andon calls and follow the escalation path to minimize downtime.
• Run pre-shift meetings to align on performance, safety, priorities, and open items.
• Keep visual management current—maintain boards so key information is visible.
• Conduct daily 5S and safety audits, including verification of guards and required PPE.
• Promote a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
• Drive continuous improvement; engage the team in problem-solving and Kaizen.
• Provide temporary production coverage when an operator steps off the line.
• Communicate production, staffing, quality, and downtime concerns to leadership.
• Model great attendance, strong work ethic, professionalism, teamwork, and positivity.
• Support company safety, quality, environmental, and operational policies.
• Foster fairness, dignity, respect, and open communication across the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background in manufacturing or production preferred.
• Experience as a Team Leader, Lead, Production Lead, Senior Operator, or similar role is a plus.
• Working knowledge of production processes, quality principles, and safety practices.
• Ability to diagnose basic equipment/process issues and know when to escalate.
• Clear communication and solid organizational habits.
• Talent for training, coaching, and supporting production employees.
• Sound judgment to set priorities and operate with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality parts.
• Comfort with root-cause thinking and helping develop effective solutions.
• Integrity, dependability, and professionalism.
