Direct Support ProfessionalJewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) is seeking caring, compassionate, and committed Direct Support Professionals to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this person-centered role, you will help residents build daily living skills, participate in their communities, and live as independently as possible while receiving safe, high-quality support.The Role at a GlanceReports to the Residential ManagerProvides direct, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesAssists with daily living, personal care, health and safety, community participation, and household routinesWorks independently and as part of a team in settings that vary based on location and individual needsYour most important strength will be meeting each person with patience, respect, and encouragement while helping them build skills, make choices, and enjoy meaningful daily experiences.What You'll Be Responsible ForDaily Living & Personal SupportProvide training and support in daily living skills, including nutrition, personal hygiene, health care, safety, communication, mobility, financial management, home management, and leisure activities, as outlined in each individual service plan (ISP)Provide physical assistance with personal care, which may include toileting, showering, and dressingAssist with meal preparation, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, simple household repairs, and financial and medication management as neededSupport each individual's social, emotional, physical, and spiritual developmentHealth, Safety & Community ParticipationEnsure individuals take medication according to their prescribed schedulesAccompany and support individuals during medical appointments, therapies, personal shopping, recreation, and other community activitiesProvide transportation in a privately owned vehicle or agency vehicle as directedImplement behavior supports as directed in each behavior support plan (BSP)Documentation & CollaborationMaintain required records and submit timesheets, expense reports, daily documentation, and other paperwork accurately and on timeAssist with the development of ISPs, annual ISP summaries, and BSPs as requested by the supervisorCommunicate regularly with families, key supports, job coaches, support coordinators, day programs, and other members of the individual's support teamParticipate in monthly house meetings, division staff meetings, and required trainingKeep the supervisor informed of each individual's progress, needs, issues, and concernsRequirementsYou are:Caring, patient, empathetic, dependable, and willing to learnOrganized, creative, and able to manage multiple responsibilitiesComfortable working independently and as part of a teamAble to communicate clearly in English and manage time effectivelyYou have:A high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferredExperience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferredBasic computer skills and the ability to complete daily electronic documentationA working cell phone with voicemail and text messaging, plus email access that can be checked each workdayYou bring:A valid Georgia driver's license, current Georgia vehicle registration, and a privately insured vehicleThe ability to meet the role's physical demands, including standing, walking, running, reaching, and lifting or moving up to 80 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when applicableA commitment to respectful, person-centered support and the safety and dignity of every individual servedWhy JF&CS?At JF&CS, direct support is about dignity, choice, connection, and growth.
