Carpenter PositionAs the Carpenter, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities that will assist in all aspects of the construction, maintenance and repair of the production facility, office buildings, housing and production equipment in all other locations of the plant. As a Carpenter, you must be skilled in reading blueprints, estimating materials, and following building codes.The responsibilities of the position include the following:Install, maintain and repair facility wall and ceiling systems.Set up and operate wood working tools and all common hand tools to cut, form, and finish material for the construction or demolition of an assigned project.Install wood or metal parts and repair or refinish walls or structures.Install glass or replace broken glass, dismantle roofing or window siding.Prepares scaffolding as needed to complete projects safely.Touch-up or do incidental painting after structure repairs.Ability to operate various types of lift equipment such as forklift and other driven machinery.Able to implement safe work procedures.Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following functional and interpersonal competencies:Carpentry Skills: Proficiency in basic carpentry skills, such as measuring, cutting, and joining wood.Equipment Usage: Ability to use various carpentry tools and equipment safely and efficiently. To include but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, hammers, punches, measuring devices, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, power saws, pullers, measuring devices and chisels.Blueprint Reading: Skill in reading and understanding blueprints and construction plans.Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve carpentry-related problems.Quality Control: Attention to detail to ensure the quality of carpentry work.Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members, including engineers, and production staff.Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and management.Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions and priorities.Reliability: Dependability and trustworthiness in fulfilling job responsibilities.Problem-Solving: Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems and overcome challenges.Learning Orientation: A willingness to learn new skills and techniques.Education and Experience:High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.Basic carpentry with some mechanical experience preferred.Knowledge of general tools and functional handyman repairsWork Environment and Schedule:While performing your duties as the Carpenter, you will be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. You will also be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities, and the ability to travel, including at times to remote locations.Physical Demands:In performing your position as the Carpenter, you must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feed; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Must be able to do frequent walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Can lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Mental Activities:The employee is frequently required to set an example by consistently modeling ambitious standards of honesty and integrity.
