Job Summary
Qualifications: 1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma. 2. Minimum "C" average during the last four years of school. 3. Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education. 4. Physical ability needed to lift and restrain students of varying age levels and sizes. 5. Physical ability to move about in the classroom to monitor and supervise students. 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Supervising Teacher and Principal
Supervises: Students
Job Goal: To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so that students may learn effectively.
Performance Responsibilities: 1. Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning. 2. Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children. 3. Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children. 4. Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children. 5. Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary. 6. Helps maintain individual records for each child. 7. Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children. 8. Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas. 9. Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods. 10. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics. 11. Performs other related duties that are required by the teacher and principal.
Terms of Employment: Nine month year. Salary to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
