• 1-3 years experience in a food service environment
• ServSafe certification

Essential Functions (includes % of time spent on the job)

• Checks with the head cook for assignments and/or instructions. Carefully follows all directions. Seeks advice when expectations are unclear. Takes the initiative to perform routine tasks independently.
• Prepares the dishwasher and verifies that it is operating correctly. Advises the head cook about supplies needed to avoid work schedule interruptions.
• Cleans, washes, and sanitizes dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc. Monitors the water temperature to ensure proper sanitization. Hand washes large pots and cooking equipment. Properly stores all items. Mops wet floors. Job Index Number: 804

Other Responsibilities

• Cross-trains with other food service staff. Helps as directed to meet established schedules (e.g., prepares food for cooking, sets up serving lines, serves customers, replenishes supplies, stores or disposes of leftover food, etc.).
• Complies with personal hygiene rules and standard sanitation procedures.
• Maintains accurate records and submits reports as directed.
• Documents injuries that require medical attention.
• Learns how to operate fire and safety equipment.
• Helps prepare for fire, health, and safety inspections.
• Assists with special district events as directed (e.g., banquets, etc.).
• Performs other duties as directed.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk on a frequent basis over a two to six hour day depending on work assignment.
• Lift up to 40 pounds using a 1 person lift, pivot with the weight and transport up to 10 feet. Lifts may be conducted up to 20 times per day depending on assignment.
• Frequent reaching, pushing and pulling at, above and below shoulders.
• Fine motor skills required for use in pincher grasp and typing.

Working Conditions

• Work is generally indoors in a kitchen and office setting.
