Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring Level III Perinatal Care experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Level III Perinatal Center unit with 20 beds in a Level IV Trauma Center teaching hospital
• High-risk mothers and newborns including placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, hysterectomies, C-section secondary nursing, vaginal delivery circulation, surgical recovery, massive transfusions, and pre-eclampsia care
• Unit averages 280 deliveries per month
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum, following AWHONN staffing guidelines
• 12-hour day shift schedule (0700-1930) at 36 hours per week
• No set schedule; must be available to work 7 days a week with every other weekend required
• Floating required to Postpartum and Women's Care Center, with travelers floated first
• No on-call, but must be available for call-back during low census situations
• Uses EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, fetal monitoring equipment, and epidural pumps

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, including Level III Perinatal Care experience with high-risk mothers and newborns (no exceptions)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and FHM
• Skilled in fetal monitoring, maternal assessments and interventions, high-risk newborn and post-delivery care, cervical exams, OB triage, C-section circulation assistance, primary vaginal delivery nursing, and L&D recovery
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care in a high-acuity, high-volume unit
• Support from charge nurse, clinical resource nurse, respiratory therapy, house supervisor, certified nurse midwives, and 24/7 onsite OB anesthesia and OBGYN providers
• Teaching hospital environment with OBGYN residents, family practice physicians, and midwives
• Three-day orientation including onboarding, unit training with a preceptor, and assignment of a work buddy before taking own patient load
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday based on need
• Scrubs provided by facility; free designated parking available
• COVID vaccination required; fit-testing for PPE provided onsite with single-use PPE and CAPR/PAPR available
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated at least 12 months before becoming eligible
