Shift Manager

Shift Manager – Intensive Behavior Center Position: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm shift, full‑time at the Intensive Behavior Center (IBC). Open until filled. Overview The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) provides intensive, short‑term treatment for individuals with intellectual disabilities and co‑occurring mental illnesses. As Shift Manager, you will oversee residential treatment units, ensuring quality care and compliance with clinical and operational standards. Responsibilities Direct all aspects of unit management during the assigned shift, including: Implementation and coordination of client treatment plans Scheduling and supervising Direct Support Professionals Maintaining the physical plant and ensuring a safe environment Providing clinical oversight in a 24/7 setting Handling administrative duties and documentation required for facility operations Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of developmental, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders Familiarity with staffing and supervisory methods in a 24‑hour, 7‑day environment Effective written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail and sound decision‑making ability Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships Computer proficiency for essential functions Calm demeanor in high‑stress situations Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Completion of Psychiatric Aide training Four years of experience caring for individuals with developmental, behavioral or psychiatric disorders Two years of supervisory experience in a 24‑hour, 7‑day facility Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis Preferred Shift Manager training, or successful completion of the training within six months of hire.
