Quarry Maintenance Mechanic, 2nd & 3rd Shifts - New Hamburg NY

Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of quarry plant processing equipment to ensure production can satisfy customer demand.

Core Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to maximize plant productivity.
• Perform workplace inspection.
• Perform housekeeping as deemed appropriate by supervisor.
• Check and maintain conveyor belts, scrapers, skirt boards, idlers, pulleys, guards and bearings.
• Check and maintain oil levels in gearboxes, crushers, and screen.
• Make sure that all guards, grease lines, etc. are put back in place and secured upon completion of a task.
• Perform cutting and welding tasks to repair plant processing equipment.
• Complete all clean up related to task before task is considered finished.
• May operate heavy equipment if needed.
• May be called upon at the discretion of the supervisor to perform any other duties assigned and/or to assist other departments if necessary.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 3+ years of practical work experience.
• Advanced mechanical skills needed.
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions in a safe manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively with and work professionally with other personnel.
• Ability to read English.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Tolerate working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Cutting and welding skills.
• Knowledge of production equipment used in the operation.

Physical Requirements:

Employees will continuously move left and right. They will frequently remain stationary, reach, lower oneself to the floor, rise to a higher position, and lift their body into spaces to perform work. Employees will occasionally drive, use fine motor skills, and use repetitive motions. They will frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees are exposed to noise, moving equipment, dust, and are expected to work with others. Frequently, employees are exposed to hot weather, cold weather, and wet weather. Occasionally, employees may be exposed to high heat and windy conditions.
