Copper State Victory: Voter Protection Director

Copper State Victory-- the 2026 Coordinated Campaign to elect Arizona Democrats-- is seeking a Voter Protection Director to ensure that the fundamental right to vote is protected for all eligible voters. Arizona is a pivotal battleground state in 2026, from protecting our last line of defense in Governor Katie Hobbs, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, and Attorney General Kris Mayes to flipping the state Legislature and key red-to-blue congressional seats. Joining the CSV team means being a part of the premier offensive line for Arizona Democrats up and down the ballot.

The Voter Protection Director (VPD) will be the driving force for developing and implementing a statewide voter protection program with the goal of expanding voter access, educating voters on changes to election laws and policies, establishing and managing a voter assistance hotline, and utilizing organizing techniques to recruit and train volunteers to accomplish programmatic goals.

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Start Date: Q1 2026

Salary: $8,500 - $9,500/month

Benefits: Eligible for UnitedHealthcare medical, dental, and vision plans at no premium

Hours: This position's schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and will require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.

Travel: In-state travel

Other: This is not a union-eligible role

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Voter Protection Department, including hiring and managing all Coordinated Voter Protection staff
• Identify voter protection and accessibility issues and develop strategies for implementing desired changes
• Establish and lead the poll observation, hotline, and boiler room programs during 2026 primary and general elections
• Recruit, train and work with volunteers to assist with voter protection programs, including building a volunteer legal team
• Build and sustain political and strategic relationships as well as serve as a statewide resource and point person for legal, legislative and strategic action against acts of voter suppression, intimidation or other efforts aimed at disenfranchising voters
• Work collaboratively with other departments, such as Data and Organizing, to accomplish goals

Skills & Qualifications:

• Prior voter protection experience or at least 2-4 years of experience working on campaigns or related electoral issues- experience interpreting laws, policies and procedures is a plus
• Skilled project manager with an extraordinary attention to detail- staff management experience is a plus
• Experience working with national, state, and local organizational stakeholders engaged in electoral strategies and programs
• Ability to work strategically, collaboratively, and creatively with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Adept at using data to inform strategy, monitor progress to goal, and report on and analyze outcomes
• Juris Doctorate with a solid understanding of organizing principles is a plus
