This posting will run from today, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, through Monday, July 20, 2026. This is a 7.0 hours per day, 185 days per year contracted position. A job description is attached. Starting pay for this position is $17.98 per hour. An aide permit is required for this position as well as satisfactory completion of the ParaPro Assessment (or associate degree/48 semester or 72 quarter hours/verified by college transcript). This anticipated start date for this position is the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year.
Job description includes a variety of support services as assigned. The position requires meeting mandated state/federal criteria, complying with health screening requirements, and maintaining a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. The aide must embody high ethical standards and integrity, comply with drug-free workplace rules, and establish working relationships with co-workers and the public. Successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, behavioral management, CPR, and/or first aid training when required as a condition of employment is also necessary.
Essential functions include checking/confirming assignments, advancing the district's professional image, maintaining open/effective communications, referring district policy interpretation inquiries to administrators, and assisting to facilitate community participation in school activities. The aide must use a computer to prepare and process information, report discipline problems, help implement rules/procedures that promote the correct use and care of program resources, prepare/maintain accurate records, and maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
The aide is responsible for upholding the student conduct code, maintaining high expectations for behavior and performance, providing appropriate student supervision as directed, taking precautions to ensure safety, reporting suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law, participating in staff meetings as directed, and pursuing professional growth opportunities necessary to maintain mandated standards.
The aide will work with individuals and small groups of students on remedial and/or enrichment activities, reinforce instructional objectives introduced by the teacher, respond to student requests for assistance, support an inclusive educational environment, perform preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of equipment, prepare training materials and instruction sheets, coordinate computer activities with the classroom teacher, provide copying (imaging) and laminating services, deliver finished copies as directed, maintain a high profile, greet the public, respond to requests for assistance, direct visitors to the office, watch for student behavior that may indicate a problem, intervene and report concerns to an administrator, keep informed about program and procedure changes, greet and assist office visitors, answer/direct phone calls, take messages, manage calls efficiently, prepare displays and bulletin boards as directed, process incoming, outgoing, interoffice mail and faxes, receive deliveries, notify recipients about the arrival of packages, store and inventory office supplies as directed, receive, sort, and count money as directed, process students arriving late to school, collect class attendance forms, distribute absentee list, prepare attendance records as directed, help train and assist student helpers in the performance of assigned duties, monitor students sent to the office for discipline reasons, locate students as requested, process homework requests for absent students, recognize that students need opportunities to quietly pursue personal interests, communicate playground and indoor recess rules, emphasize fair play and courtesy, mediate impasses, patrol the recreation area to maintain visibility and student contact, encourage social interactions among students, monitor and initiate action to protect students during adverse weather conditions, store equipment and help keep the recreation area orderly, keep informed about the assistance needs/procedures for assigned students, acquire basic skills that support student needs, respond to student requests for assistance, help students with disabilities participate in appropriate learning activities, assist with behavior management and/or prescribed medical plans when required, monitor equipment to identify unsafe conditions and/or defective equipment, facilitate student mobility, help students use assistive and/or augmentative devices, position students to take full advantage of each learning environment, follow prescribed medical plans and/or assist students with personal hygiene care as trained by a licensed health care professional, work with the classroom teacher to address persistent behavior problems, determine seat assignments, take attendance, uphold study hall rules, control student access to lockers, toilet rooms, etc, prohibit loitering near the room entrance, keep administrators informed about chronic absenteeism, tardiness, and behavior problems, ensure that students have books and classroom assignments, help students with questions, authenticate student permission to leave the room, track the location of each assigned student.

Working safety is essential to job performance. Employees must exercise caution and comply with standard safety regulations and district procedures when involved in the following situations: balancing, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing; exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes; exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises, and odors; exposure to wet and/or slippery surfaces; exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases; interactions with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals; lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment; operating and/or riding in a vehicle; traveling to meetings and work assignments; working in proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Franklin Local School District Board of Education.
