General Description The Lead Man will assist the Foreman/Superintendent in coordinating, planning, and supervising field staff and craft activities on assigned projects. In the supervisor’s absence, the Lead Man will assume responsibility for the project. This is an hourly position. Key Duties Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in field operations under the supervision of the Foreman. Supervise the jobsite in accordance with company policies, procedures, and best practices. Read and interpret construction plans. Carry out instructions and provide accurate information or direction to crew members, working independently when necessary. Operate heavy equipment as required. Adapt to changes and fill in where needed on the jobsite. Ensure the safety of crew members at all times. Train new crew members. Maintain accurate time and material records. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Prior experience as a Lead or Foreman; not an entry-level position. Three to five years of related experience in highway construction and/or paving. DOT experience is an advantage. Bilingual skills preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Strong communication skills with management and teammates. Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Physical Demands The role requires continuous physical effort, including standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, and crouching. The candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently, use hand tools and generators, and remain alert to multiple concurrent activities on the site. Exposure to uneven surfaces and varying weather conditions is common. Work Environment Work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to high noise, grease, and dust levels typical of construction projects and often work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
