Emergency Medical Technician EMT

Job Description

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides pre-hospital care, offering life-saving support and transporting patients to medical facilities. Operating primarily on solo responses within mostly local and occasional out-of-area coverage, EMTs play a vital role in standby events and non-emergency transports. They work routine shifts with on-call or rotating schedules, relying on their medical expertise, communication skills, and teamwork to ensure patient safety and effective response.

Responsibilities

Assess patients' condition and determine appropriate medical care
Deliver basic life support
Transport patients safely to healthcare facilities
Maintain accurate and timely patient care records
Perform regular equipment checks and upkeep
Follow safety protocols and compliance regulations
Communicate clearly with patients, families, and emergency teams
Collaborate effectively as a solo responder in various scenarios

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year experience in emergency medical services
Valid EMT certification

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Strong patient assessment skills
Effective emergency medical care delivery
Excellent communication and critical thinking
Physical stamina for handling demanding shifts
Proven teamwork and attention to detail
