Substitute Paraprofessional – Class 4 Specialist/Behavioral Program Whitman‑Hanson Regional School District – Whitman Middle – Whitman, Massachusetts Job Details Job ID: 5741158 Application Deadline: Jun 01, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Posted: May 27, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Jun 1, 2026 Job Description June 1 – June 24, 2026 Position Title: SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL – Class 4 Specialist/Behavioral Program Effective Date: Includes any 1:1 paraprofessionals that are academic supporting a student Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Restraint Trained Assist with toileting Support students requiring de‑escalation, time outs, and/or restraints Support student on behavior intervention plans (BIPS) through data collection and reinforcement under the supervision of classroom teacher and/or BCBA Support Discrete Trial Training (DTT) under the supervision of classroom teacher and/or BCBA (includes Special Education, Regular Education, and Title I) Qualifications Paraprofessionals shall meet the requirements of a “Highly Qualified” paraprofessional as described in Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The minimum qualifications include: A high school diploma or equivalent, An Associate’s (or higher) degree; OR Evidence of completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education; OR Evidence of completion of one of the formal Massachusetts‑endorsed assessments: ParaPro or WorkKeys Reports To: Building Principal or Designee Responsibilities The primary purpose of instructional paraprofessionals is to support both teachers and students in activities directly related to education. Essential functions include: Assist in the education and social development of students under the direction and guidance of general or special education teachers. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and monitor progress. Provide support for identified students both inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in activities. Assist in administration of state/district wide assessments. Implement special strategies as required by supervisor. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Perform all clerical duties as directed by supervisor. Manage student behavior under the direction of supervisor. Demonstrate personal career development through in‑service/other training opportunities as provided by the Whitman‑Hanson Regional School District. Other Potential Duties Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, crisis prevention, etc.). Assisting students with transition to/from transportation. All other duties as assigned. Job Requirements At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred. Associate degree preferred.
