Role Description The Dosimetrist is a full‑time, hybrid team member based at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC, with the flexibility for some work‑from‑home tasks. This role is responsible for designing and calculating radiation treatment plans in collaboration with radiation oncologists and medical physicists, ensuring precise dose distribution to achieve clinical objectives while protecting healthy tissues. Daily responsibilities include performing dose calculations, generating and verifying treatment plans, supporting quality assurance procedures, and documenting treatment parameters in accordance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards. The Dosimetrist works closely with the radiation therapy team to review imaging, confirm patient setups, uphold radiation safety practices, and participate in continuous improvement of treatment planning processes and technologies. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Treatment Planning and Dosimetry to design, optimize, and evaluate radiation therapy plans. Candidates should possess knowledge of Radiation and Radiation Safety to ensure accurate delivery and protection of patients and staff. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Medical Physics principles relevant to clinical radiation oncology. Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist (e.g., CMD) or eligibility for certification is preferred. Experience with treatment planning systems (e.g., IMRT, VMAT, 3D-CRT, SBRT) and associated software is highly beneficial. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to follow clinical protocols and regulatory requirements. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with physicians, physicists, therapists, and other clinical staff.
