Phlebotomist II - Float

Pay Range: $22.79hr - $24.41hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients who present for routine healthcare or health decision insights. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established practices and procedures. The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, sensitivity to confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a physician's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform with confidence both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including the company dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover at Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Must demonstrate superior customer focus, the ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, the ability to accelerate and embrace change, and knowledge of the business.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment strongly preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.

Additional Details:


Floaters travel between multiple sites and are expected to arrive on time at the assigned site for the day. A clean driving record is required. Floaters are eligible to submit mileage for expense reimbursement.
