Nursery Sales Associate

Pre-requisite • Read Associate Position, or Similar Job Experience

‍The Nursery Sales Associate position is an important role that requires attention to detail and a can-do attitude. Your main priority will always be the needs of the customer and making sure they get the help they are seeking. In addition to providing high level customer service, you will also be helping a team of people with the daily functions of keeping our store looking clean, fully stocked, and beautiful. Your responsibilities will include restocking retail, hard goods, or plant material in their proper location, answering phones, and general tidiness. There are times when a task might be given to you that is out of the ordinary, or when you might be asked to assist in another department.This is all a part of working on the same team and we encourage growth and experience in all areas. Must be mindful of good, clean, safe working conditions.   

Qualifications:

• Restocking and or caring for plant material

• Years (1+) of provable experience in at least one of these areas: Horticulture sales, garden center sales, or other plant-based industry.  We have a test that must betaken and passed to validate you are qualified.

• Valid driver’s license with good driving record is valued.

• Able to workin all-weather types and potentially the extremes: wet and cold, or hot and dry

• Pesticide applicators license is valued but not required.

• Able to comfortably lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.

• Some weekend hours are expected during May, June, September, and October.

Responsibilities:

• Restocking and or caring for plant material
• Unloading and loading of trucks carrying plant material, hard goods, customer deliveries, etc. 
• Work on daily work lists provided by managers
• Apply price tags to products before it is put out on the sales floor 
• Help keep buyers informed when running low on sales products and plant material. 
• Assist customers above all else– if you do not know the answer to a question, find someone who does and relay information back to customer 
• Sweep floors and empty trash cans during your shift as needed and at the end of each workday 
• Answer phones and utilize the register to check customers out.  We use QuickBooks.
• Maintaining cleanliness as a point of attention throughout the store 

Note:  This position can lead to a landscape designer’s position.

This can be a full-time, part-time and or seasonal position.

An estimated wage of $15-20 per hour based on qualifications and work ethic is available.

Uniforms are supplied, you provide appropriate boots/shoes (with certain requirements), knife, and gloves.  A boot fund is offered after 1 year of employment with us.
