Wet Lab Scientist – Ligand Discovery Join a dedicated research team at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s QAI4Bio Lab, focused on developing and experimentally validating ligand/drug discovery projects in epigenetics, cancer and longevity. Job Responsibilities Lead wet‑lab experiments for ligand/drug discovery projects with minimal to moderate supervision. Produce high‑quality proteins using bacterial, insect or mammalian expression systems, ensuring quality for functional and structural studies. Design and execute protein‑ligand binding assays (SPR, MST, ITC, BLI, FP, TR‑FRET, or cell‑based assays) and optimize assay conditions for robust, reproducible data. Manage day‑to‑day wet‑lab operations: mentor staff, maintain equipment, monitor reagent inventory and report data. Collaborate closely with the computational team to validate predicted hit and lead compounds, providing experimental feedback. Contribute to manuscript preparation, submission and peer‑review processes under PI supervision. Present research findings at conferences and internal meetings. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (minimum 8years of experience), or Master’s degree (minimum 6years), or PhD (minimum 3years). Demonstrated experience in protein expression, purification and biophysical binding assays. Strong understanding of ligand discovery workflows and the ability to troubleshoot complex experiments. Experience or interest in wet‑lab leadership and staff training is a plus. Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills. St. Jude is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
