This role oversees MDS assessments, documentation accuracy, care plan coordination, and regulatory compliance. The MDS Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining high-quality resident care, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring reimbursement aligns with clinical delivery and federal/state guidelines.QualificationsCurrent, valid Texas nursing license (RN or LVN)At least 2 years of long-term care experience preferredAcknowledgement of Completion Certificate through HHSC RUG Online Training for Nursing FacilitiesMust complete AANAC RAI Certification within 1 year of employmentStrong communication, documentation, and delegation skillsAbility to read, write, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation, regulations, and technical proceduresAbility to write reports, business correspondence, nursing progress notes, and care-related documentationAbility to present information effectively to department heads, residents, families, physicians, and regulatory partnersEssential FunctionsMaintain compliance with all State and Federal Medicare/Medicaid rules, regulations, and published interpretationsReview pre-admission paperwork to ensure qualifying medical necessityAttend daily weekday stand-up meetingsCoordinate Weekly Reimbursement Meetings with the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure reimbursement aligns with care deliveryAudit clinical records to ensure documentation accuracy; educate and train staff on documentation guidelinesObtain and update Medicare-qualifying diagnoses for Medicare Part A residentsInitiate and update physician certifications for Medicare Part A residentsComplete all MDS assessments within required timeframes for Medicare and Medicaid residentsReview 24-hour nursing reports to identify changes in resident conditionPrepare for Medicaid audits and ensure documentation readinessTrack resident benefit days, validate daily census, and coordinate information with the Financial Manager to ensure accurate billingAchieve budgeted reimbursement rate expectationsUphold Patient Care Management Systems and Financial Management SystemsEnsure resident safety and compliance with Abuse Prevention policiesPerform other duties as assignedWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
