Maintenance Position

This position ensures that routine maintenance and repairs on, and within all buildings of the district are performed accurately and efficiently to keep them in optimal working condition.

Essential Job Functions:

• Repairs, replaces, or reassembles defective equipment using hand and power tools.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.
• Performs routine maintenance actions that include inspecting drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, and replace filters following standard checklists.
• Keeps accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including costs associated with each.
• Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
• Lays out and inspects work and assists other staff members to complete jobs.
• Inspects, operates, and tests machinery in order to detect mechanical problems.
• Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
• Reviews work orders, checks drawings and plans.
• Develops and maintains a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
• Responsible for basic lawn maintenance including mowing and snow plowing.
• Observes and follows all safety regulations to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.
• Orders materials as needed and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Instructs custodians on proper methods of procedure and proper use of tools and equipment used in repair and maintenance work.
• Does major repairs/work on electrical, plumbing, carpentry and roofs that cannot be done by custodians.
• Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
• Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventative maintenance programs.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 2-5 Years' experience in commercial building maintenance and repair with exposure in carpentry, painting, 3 phase electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and custodial duties.
• Preferred to have a basic trade certification (HVAC, electrical, boiler, fire alarm, or carpentry).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, follow instructions, and occasionally work evenings/weekends for events or emergencies.
• Ability to identify and address issues quickly.
• Ability to use common tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
• Must be able to lift up to 47 lbs.
• Must be able to carry up to 37 lbs.
• Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 12 lbs.

Scheduling:

The work hours for this position are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 3:30- 12 am. The schedule is subject to change with district demands. Overtime is required when requested.
