Paralegal

Position: Paralegal Department: Office of the General Counsel Reports To: Senior Deputy General Counsel Salary Grade: N Salary Range: \$60,000 - \$75,000 Position Summary The Paralegal supports the Office of General Counsel, focusing on the Real Estate Team attorneys and Senior Paralegal. Key responsibilities include preparing real estate transaction documents, managing closing documentation, conducting due‑diligence reviews, and assisting with board and meeting materials. Essential Duties Maintain and organize files related to legal matters, including the AH Atlanta Housing real estate portfolio, contracts, and real estate transactions. Organize, maintain, and distribute real‑estate closing binders and associated documents. Manage legal and administrative projects as assigned. Coordinate contracting activities for the Legal Department, including preparation of task orders and monitoring contractor progress. Assist with preparations for Board of Commissioner meetings, including preparation of Board resolutions, minutes, notices, and maintaining the resolution index. Conduct legal research and draft legal documents and communications for internal and external audiences. Serve as liaison between the Legal Department, external law firms, and other entities. Maintain strict confidentiality and protect attorney‑client privileged communications. Manage incoming tax levies and garnishments from the Internal Revenue Service. File and retrieve court and city or county documents. Update electronic and hard‑copy files in the law library. Coordinate compliance with open‑records requests, subpoenas, and litigation discovery requests. Communicate with Atlanta Housing employees and third parties regarding Legal Department matters. Prepare real‑estate transaction documents, manage closing documentation for simple and complex closings, and attend real‑estate closings. Attend assigned AHA meetings and record meeting events. Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, judgment, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers. Collaborative work style with co‑employees. Practical knowledge of basic legal principles and concepts affecting Atlanta Housing AHA. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities. High accuracy and attention to detail. Rapid acquisition of functional knowledge regarding Atlanta Housing AHA operations. Initiative, independence, and ability to perform duties with little supervision. Maintenance of strict confidentiality. Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus five years of paralegal experience. Preferred experience in an in‑house legal department or large law firm. Paralegal certification from an ABA‑accredited program is a plus. Proficiency in current office technology and software applications. Work Conditions Office environment, requiring frequent bending, stooping, reaching, prolonged sitting, and/or standing.
