Lead, Support Specialist

The Lead Support Specialist provides support and guidance to Support Specialists staff to meet key performance indicators for Goodwill Industry of Kentucky. The focus is to lead the Support Specialists in connecting participants with the resources and services needed to remove barriers, find housing, maintain long‑term employment, and a career path. Essential Duties and Tasks: Directly supervise a staff of Support Specialists focused on supporting the functions of the Goodwill program and connecting individuals to resources. Lead the management of the specialists in the opportunity center ensuring that it is running efficiently and effectively. Set workload and ensure specialists work toward company goals and objectives. Maintain data reporting of participant information into the provided data system, basic needs, and support as required by the opportunity center manager. Assist participants in locating resources needed to help overcome barriers and make referrals to other agencies as needed on behalf of the participant. Assist support specialists’ performance and provide feedback to the opportunity center manager. Play the lead role in planning, executing, and monitoring the support specialists with the clients that are participating each day. Have extensive experience working with individuals experiencing mental health needs, physical health problems, substance use problems, poverty, and homelessness. Be self‑motivated with the capacity to consistently work with a high volume of individuals. Possess good communication skills and demonstrated abilities in interpersonal relations, teaching/instructing, counseling, coaching, training, basic math and language, evaluating, organizing work for oneself and others, planning, decision making, problem solving, adapting to change, and crisis intervention techniques, verbal and physical. Have strong leadership and mentoring skills; possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage stress in a fast‑paced environment. Maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Certified Rehabilitation Counselors’ Code of Ethics. Education and Experience: Four years of work experience in lieu of a college degree in workforce development/social services environments, such as a workforce development program and/or community rehabilitation program, providing services to individuals with disabilities and/or other disadvantages preferred. Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
