Substitute School Nurse (Registered Nurse)Pulaski County Public Schools Position: Substitute School Nurse (As Needed) Location: Pulaski County Public Schools Rate of Pay: $30.00 per hour Join Our Team! Pulaski County Public Schools is seeking compassionate, dependable, and qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) to serve as Substitute School Nurses. This position provides nursing services to students and staff on an as-needed basis while supporting a safe and healthy learning environment. Substitute School Nurses play a vital role in promoting student wellness by providing direct health care, responding to medical emergencies, administering medications, and ensuring compliance with student health plans.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide nursing care to students and staff during the school day.Assess and respond appropriately to student illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school division policies.Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.Monitor and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Care Plans (ECPs), and other medical accommodations.Communicate effectively with parents, school administrators, teachers, and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns.Promote health and wellness through education and preventative care.Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Health and Pulaski County Public Schools policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned by the school administrator or School Health Services Supervisor.Minimum QualificationsCurrent licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric nursing, emergency care, medication administration, and communicable disease procedures.Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in school nursing, pediatric nursing, emergency nursing, or public health nursing is preferred but not required.Experience working with children and adolescents.Why Join Pulaski County Public Schools?As a Substitute School Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students while enjoying a flexible work schedule.
