Senior Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Job Description Job Description Position Overview We're looking for a high-level Commercial HVAC Technician to support a portfolio of large, complex facilities. This role is ideal for a technician who thrives in structured environments, understands critical systems, and can handle everything from routine maintenance to urgent repairs without hesitation. You'll be responsible for keeping systems running efficiently, identifying issues before they become problems, and stepping in when things need to be fixed—in a timely fashion DUTIES: Manage Maintenance & System Performance * Perform scheduled maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including air handlers and related equipment * Replace filters, clean coils, lubricate components, and make system adjustments to maintain peak performance * Inspect fans, belts, motors, dampers, and airflow components for wear and efficiency * Keep systems operating clean, balanced, and within design specifications * Diagnostics & Troubleshooting * Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across HVAC systems * Test motors, controls, and system performance to catch problems early * Work across high, medium, and low voltage equipment * Make informed repair decisions based on system condition and performance * Repairs & Service Calls * Handle service calls and system issues with a strong sense of urgency * Repair or replace components to restore full system functionality * Coordinate parts and materials needed to complete repairs * Ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly the first time * Emergency Response * Be available for after-hours and emergency calls when required * Respond quickly to urgent system issues across supported facilities * Stabilize and restore systems in time-sensitive situations * Documentation & Accountability * Track work performed, system conditions, and maintenance activity * Maintain clear, organized service records * Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices * What You Bring * Experience * 4-6+ years of commercial HVAC experience * Strong background working on large-scale systems and air handlers * Experience with both preventative maintenance and reactive service * Strong management and training skills * Certifications * EPA Section 608 Certification * NATE Certification (preferred) * Active HVAC License * Additional state/local certifications as required * Technical Skills * Solid understanding of electrical systems (high/medium/low voltage) * Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability * Ability to read schematics and technical documentation * Comfortable working independently in the field * Work Environment & Schedule * Primarily a Monday-Friday daytime schedule * Rotating on-call responsibilities for emergency service * Travel between multiple facilities within the assigned area * What Sets You Apart * You don't wait to be told what's wrong—you find it * You take ownership of your work and the systems you maintain * You stay calm under pressure and solve problems quickly * You understand the importance of keeping critical environments running * Compensation & Benefits * Competitive pay based on experience and certifications * Overtime and on-call pay opportunities * Commission * Steady, year-round work across established facilities * Growth potential into senior or leadership roles Company Description Steira Air is a growing, specialized HVAC and Indoor Air Quality company on a mission to create healthier indoor environments for homes and businesses.
