Senior Application Systems Analyst

Salary: $54.08 - 148,742.72 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree is required.
• 2 to 4 years of experience is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of the Athena/IDX professional billing platform, including charge capture, claims processing, reimbursement workflows, vendor coordination, and payment posting.
• Strong grasp of Athena/IDX database administration, including data structures, tables, and system setup.
• Proficiency in SQL and data extraction tools for reporting and analysis.
• Familiarity with integrations between Cerner Millennium and Athena/IDX professional billing workflows.
• Understanding of revenue cycle processes across facility and professional billing environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot Athena/IDX applications, resolve system issues, and improve financial and operational workflows.
• Knowledge of interface development and integration methods such as HL7, APIs, and flat files.
• Experience with healthcare revenue cycle, compliance, and billing concepts, including charge capture, payment reconciliation, claims adjudication, denial management, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
• Familiarity with Maryland regulations and HSCRC is preferred.
• Leadership experience with implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects in Athena/IDX or similar professional billing systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and end-user training skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with finance, IT, clinical, and revenue cycle stakeholders.
• Experience with project management methods such as Agile, Waterfall, or PMP is preferred.
• Relevant certifications in healthcare IT, Athena/IDX, database management, revenue cycle systems, SQL, data analytics, or project management are a plus.

• Work largely independently while partnering with management as needed.
• Implement, enhance, and support business, clinical, or financial applications across the system.
• Follow departmental procedures, especially change control and the issue/request tracking process.
• Provide ongoing telephone support for end users with a strong customer service approach.
• Lead implementations, system upgrades, and optimization efforts within Athena/IDX or comparable systems.
• Troubleshoot application issues and refine workflows to improve financial and operational performance.
• Support interface development and system integration with third-party platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, clinical departments, and revenue cycle stakeholders.
• Train users and document system processes, workflows, and solutions.
• Coordinate closely with teams supporting Cerner Millennium to keep workflows aligned across systems.
