Program Coordinator (Assistant Director-Level Role)

Tenney Preschool and Childcare is seeking an experienced, confident leader to step into a Program Coordinator role and support the overall operations of our center.

This position functions similarly to an Assistant Director , working closely with leadership to ensure smooth daily operations, strong staff support, and a high-quality experience for children and families.

We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and not afraid to step in, take ownership, and lead when needed .

Position Overview

This role is primarily office-based , supporting day-to-day operations, staff coordination, and communication. You will also step into classrooms as needed to support ratios, staff coverage, and overall program consistency.

✨ Key Responsibilities

• Support daily center operations and overall program flow
• Assist with staff scheduling, ratios, and classroom coverage
• Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff
• Step into classrooms as needed to support teams and maintain consistency
• Assist with licensing compliance and documentation
• Communicate with families and support enrollment processes
• Help implement and uphold center policies and procedures
• Work closely with the Director to keep the program running smoothly

• Is highly organized and detail-oriented
• Can problem-solve quickly and handle multiple priorities
• Is comfortable balancing administrative work and classroom support
• Takes initiative and does not need constant direction
• Is reliable, professional, and consistent

✅ Qualifications

• Previous experience in a childcare leadership role (Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, or similar)
• Strong understanding of childcare licensing and regulations
• Experience supporting staff and managing classroom operations
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Wisconsin Registry credentials (or willingness to obtain)

⏰ Schedule

Monday–Friday

8:30 AM – 5:15 PM

Salary

$48,000 – $52,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications

Your primary responsibility in this position will be to assist the Director. The expectation is that you will predominantly work in the office and step into classrooms as necessary.

You will receive a list of responsibilities and tasks assigned by the Director.

To succeed in this role, it is essential to possess teaching experience in early childhood education, as well as experience in managing an early childhood program.
