About the Position

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours (21:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 5 years previous sterile processing experience required License: Certification required at hire and maintained Certifications: Certified CRCST or CSPDT Must-Have: Must be certified in IAHCSMM, CBSPD, or HSPA. Must have a 3 or above rating in Robotics. Must have worked in a Level II Trauma or similar facility. Description: The Sterile Processing Technician cleans, prepares, sterilizes, and stores instruments. The technician prepares case carts for the operating room. The SPD unit serves multiple operating rooms, labor and delivery operating rooms, and various clinics. There is experience with a multitude of specialties, including robotics. This position will primarily involve working in decontamination and rarely in assembling trays. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. Skills include knowledge of cleaning equipment, proper labeling, and aseptic techniques. Knowledge of sterilization wrapping procedures and the proper selection of wrapping materials is essential. Experience with instrument reprocessing and the use of washers and sterilizers is required. The technician will work within an interdisciplinary team environment. Flexibility to float and work with various vendors is necessary.
