Shift Details

Type: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Position Description

We are seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel position. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level III or IV NICU, with an understanding of neonatal care for infants born at 23-24 weeks gestation. Please note, travelers must be open to floating to different campuses as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care and management of critically ill neonates.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries.
• Administer medications and blood products as needed.
• Manage ventilators and perform cardioversion/defibrillation.
• Utilize feeding tubes, PICC lines, and syringe pumps effectively.
• Implement therapeutic hypothermia protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and social services.
• Provide support to families in a compassionate and professional manner.

Unit Details

• Bed Capacity: 77 beds (average census of 50)
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates and Infants
• Expected Patient Ratios: 2 patients per nurse

Qualifications

• Current Compact State License in hand at the time of submission.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Preferred experience with Epic charting system.
• Charge experience is advantageous.

Orientation and Schedule

Orientation will consist of 24 hours. Block scheduling is available, and managers will collaborate directly with RNs to accommodate scheduling requests to the best of their abilities. Pre-approved time off is allowed; however, any time off requests must be made upfront during the application process.

Additional Information

Travelers should be prepared to float to sister facilities if required. The facility has a dedicated Admit Nurse, so travelers typically do not admit newborns. The role encourages learning and collaboration within a fast-paced environment with a high demand for NICU care.
