Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or a willingness to fulfill these requirements within the designated timeframe
• Holds or is eligible for necessary licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction in Alabama
• Specialized experience or training working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing highly valued
• Commitment to accessibility, differentiated instruction, and advocacy for children with hearing loss

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting content as needed
• Collaborate with general education staff and support teams to develop and implement effective strategies
• Monitor students’ academic and social-emotional progress and maintain clear, ongoing communication with families
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of IEPs (Individualized Education Plans)
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom culture
