As a Denny's Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for managing the overall operations of your restaurant. You will execute our Service Profit Chain and Brand Promise by developing a high-performing team, maximizing sales, ensuring top-tier food safety, and delivering exceptional guest hospitality. Because our D.C. locations operate 24 hours a day, your leadership will ensure operational excellence across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Hospitality & Experience
- Maintain a "Guests First" mentality, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming diner environment.
- Engage with guests on the floor to gather feedback and build local restaurant loyalty.
- Proactively resolve customer complaints with speed, empathy, and professionalism.
2. Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard hourly team members (servers, cooks, hosts, and service assistants).
- Foster an "employee-friendly," inclusive, and high-energy culture where team members are respected and valued.
- Implement Denny's training systems to ensure everyone is cross-trained and executing brand standards.
- Identify internal talent and mentor shift leaders for career progression.
3. Financial & Operational Performance
- Analyze period-end labor metrics, and operational reports to identify performance gaps and implement action plans.
- Manage labor scheduling, food inventory, and portion control to minimize waste and meet budget targets.
- Execute local store marketing initiatives to increase guest counts and grow sales.
4. Safety, Security & Compliance
- Ensure absolute compliance with D.C. Department of Health (DOH) regulations, food safety standards, and HACCP guidelines.
- Enforce proper cash handling, safe drops, and security protocols to protect assets, guests, and staff.
- Maintain strict adherence to federal and Washington, D.C. labor laws.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of progressive management experience in a high-volume, full-service, or fast-casual restaurant environment. (24/7 diner or family-dining experience is a major plus).
- Certifications: Must possess or be able to quickly obtain a valid ServSafe Manager Certification and a D.C. Food Manager License .
- Skills: Strong financial acumen (experience with P&L, inventory, and labor tracking), excellent communication, and a proven track record of building and retaining teams.
- Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support a 24/7 environment.
- Physical: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
