Why You'll Love This Role Specialize in Wound Care : Work closely with orthopedic, podiatry, plastics, emergency, and general surgery teams on challenging and rewarding cases. Mix It Up : While wound care is your home base, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate through other inpatient acute care services for variety and growth. Be Surrounded by Experts : Join a team of experienced OTs and PTs, many of whom are also faculty at UNM’s PT and OT educational programs. Get Mentored, Be Mentored : You’ll be supported by a robust mentorship program. Keep Learning : On-the-job training to university-level lectures, education is baked into everything we do. A Day in the Life Evaluate patients across all age groups (neonates to geriatrics) and design customized therapy plans Apply a variety of therapeutic modalities — from exercise and massage to heat, sound, water, light, and electricity Educate and empower patients and caregivers with tools and strategies for healing and independence Collaborate with medical teams and train students, mentor peers, and support an interdisciplinary care model Document patient progress, assist with billing, and keep the care machine running smoothly Keep safety top of mind — for patients, for the team, and for yourself What You Bring to the Table Licensed (or soon-to-be) PT in New Mexico CPR/BLS certified (or willing to get it within 30 days) Wound care certification (like CWS) is a huge plus — but not a dealbreaker!
