Position Information Winthrop Position Title Winthrop Position Title Graduate, Communications Assistant Job Purpose This position is for a graduate student that will help support the department’s daily operations and communication efforts by assisting with administrative tasks, managing social media content, creating digital and print marketing materials, updating the departmental website, and promoting student engagement activities. This role helps ensure effective communication, organization, and outreach across departmental initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities Provide general office support, including scanning, printing, filing, and record maintenance. Create marketing and promotional materials such as flyers, graphics, and bulletin boards. Manage and update departmental social media accounts and create digital content, includingvideos. Maintain and update departmental website content. Assist with student engagement, departmental events, and special projects. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of departmental operations and communication efforts. Qualifications A graduate-level student at Winthrop University. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic office equipment. Experience with or willingness to learn social media management, content creation, and website updates. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Experience with graphic design, video editing, or digital marketing tools is preferred. Preferred Skills Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content. (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.) Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut). Basic knowledge of website content management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Creative mindset with an interest in marketing, communications, and student engagement.
