Position Summary:

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient set up and operation of the brake press to ensure quality parts are produced to print, within established production standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be reliable, cooperative, with high attention to detail, and work well independently and as part of a team.
• Set up machine by selecting proper program and tooling, adjust programming as needed.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret bills of materials and routings.
• Position material in machine and perform operation to achieve desired result.
• Perform finish grinding, sanding, or other finishing operation.
• Examine and inspect finished parts with a variety of precision measuring instruments, recognize non-conforming parts.
• Monitor work assignments and communicate any concerns or issues with lead.

• Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrates the ability to understand machine operation, tooling, setups, and basic mechanical concepts.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, bills of materials, routings, and work instructions.
• Problem Solving: Identifies machine, tooling, material, or quality issues and takes appropriate corrective action or seeks assistance.
• Dependability: Reports to work consistently and reliably, follows assigned schedules, and completes work within established production requirements.
• Teamwork: Works effectively with coworkers, leads, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals.
• Communication: Clearly communicates production concerns, quality issues, equipment problems, and job status to the appropriate lead or supervisor.
• Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing priorities, production schedules, materials, and job requirements.
• Work Organization: Maintains an organized and clean work area and properly handles materials, tools, and equipment.

Physical Requirements: 

The employee is regularly required to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Lift up to 75 pounds, occasionally maneuver through lifting, pushing or pulling greater than 75 pounds. Regular reaching overhead and at or below shoulder level, with gross and fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities include near, far, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in metal fabrication.
