Senior Project Manager - Environmental I Brooklyn, NY LaBella is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our growing, multi-disciplinary Brooklyn, NY office. The successful candidate will manage environmental due diligence, investigation, and remediation projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, and other complex urban redevelopment assignments throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, technical deliverables, regulatory coordination, and client communication. The role will include preparing and reviewing work plans, proposals, investigation reports, remedial action plans, and regulatory submittals; coordinating field teams, contractors, drillers, laboratories, and technical specialists; evaluating environmental data; and helping guide projects from due diligence through investigation, remediation, and closure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• B.S. degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Approximately 5-10 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including experience managing environmental due diligence, investigation, remediation, and/or construction-phase environmental projects.
• Experience with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental investigations, remedial programs, and environmental data evaluation.
• Working knowledge of NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, and/or other New York City/ New York State environmental regulatory programs.
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, subcontractors, technical deliverables, and client expectations.
• Experience preparing and/or reviewing proposals, work plans, investigation reports, remedial action plans, closure documentation, and regulatory submittals.
• Ability to coordinate field teams, contractors, drillers, laboratories, technical specialists, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients, regulators, and project teams.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Team-oriented professional with the ability to mentor junior staff, support collaborative problem-solving, and contribute positively to office culture.
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong client service skills, sound professional judgment, and a practical approach to solving technical, regulatory, and logistical challenges.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary group of environmental scientists, geologists, engineers, planners, contractors, and other professionals.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and/or environmental data presentation tools preferred for reviewing figures, maps, tables, and technical deliverables.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to travel to project sites within the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area. Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• New York State Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, or other relevant professional certification.
• Experience managing and mentoring staff.
• Experience with in-situ remediation, engineering controls, vapor mitigation, soil management, groundwater remediation, and construction-phase environmental compliance.
• Experience supporting client development, proposal strategy, and business development efforts. Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform and/or oversee outdoor field work in urban, construction, and redevelopment settings.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
• Ability to visit active project sites and perform field oversight, as needed. Salary Range: $120,000 - $155,000 Salary will be commensurate with experience, technical qualifications, professional licensure, client-management experience, business-development capabilities, and relevant New York City / New York State environmental consulting experience. - Manage environmental due diligence, investigation, and remediation projects throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area, including Phase 1/11 ESAs, NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, and construction-phase environmental work.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, deliverables, and client expectations from project initiation through completion.
- Prepare, review, and manage proposals, work plans, investigation reports, remedial action plans, closure documentation, and other technical and regulatory deliverables.
- Oversee and coordinate field investigations, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and surface water sampling, drilling programs, contractor oversight, construction support, and related field documentation.
- Direct and support field staff, subcontractors, drillers, laboratories, and technical specialists to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Review, evaluate, organize, and present environmental data, including analytical results, field observations, figures, maps, tables, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate project status, findings, recommendations, schedule issues, and budget considerations clearly to clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Maintain regular and open communication with project team members, including senior technical reviewers, junior staff, administrative support, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, planners, contractors, and government agencies to achieve project objectives and resolve technical, regulatory, and logistical challenges.
- Mentor and support junior staff by providing technical guidance, field planning support, report review, and practical project management direction.
- Establish and track project milestones, deadlines, budgets, and resource needs to support timely and profitable project delivery.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including environmental assessments, permits, reports, correspondence, field records, laboratory data, and regulatory communications.
- Conduct and oversee work in accordance with professional standards, applicable regulations, LaBella's QA/QC policies, and the firm's core values.
- Represent LaBella professionally in interactions with clients, regulators, subcontractors, teaming partners, and other project stakeholders.
- Support the continued growth of LaBella's Brooklyn environmental practice through strong project delivery, client service, staff development, and collaboration with senior leadership.
