Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
• Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, 12-Lead EKG, and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in the patient chart and respiratory care records; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification valid in Pennsylvania
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Ability to operate and maintain mechanical ventilators and related respiratory equipment with minimal supervision
• Competency in arterial puncture, endotracheal intubation (freehand and video laryngoscope), and moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols where applicable

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in an acute care or intensive care setting
• Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and advanced airway management techniques
• Experience with shift-to-shift walking rounds and hands-off communication protocols
