Instrument Tech III: HOI Surgery Center (OSCOC)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Instrument Technician III has completed a training program and has at least one year of experience in a sterile processing department. This role is responsible for the care, cleaning, handling, and reprocessing of instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines. The Technician assembles and wraps trays for sterilization, loads and operates sterilizers, and applies knowledge of instrumentation, blood and body‑fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and sterilization methods to perform quality‑assurance monitoring. The Technician documents all work in accordance with policy and procedures, assists with orienting new hires and students, and performs relief duties as needed. The Technician also provides coordination and assembly of surgery case carts, completes inventory lists for trays and surgeon preference cards, signs and dates checklists, and assists with operating‑room sterilization processes. Qualifications Minimum one year of experience in sterile processing. Knowledge of surgical terminology, instrumentation, and supplies. Basic computer skills. Sterile processing and case‑cart experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. At least two of the three specialties in SPD: Instrument Room (decon, prep/pack/sterilization), GI scope room, and case cart.
