The Floor Technician is responsible for the maintenance, restoration, and appearance of a variety of floor surfaces using industrial floor care equipment. Working Monday through Friday on the second shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), this role ensures that hard floors, carpets, and upholstered surfaces are cleaned and maintained according to established standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive floor maintenance and restorative processes for all types of floor surfaces, including hard floors and carpets.

• Apply proper procedures for hard-surface floor care, including stripping and refinishing, burnishing, spray cleaning, and related techniques.

• Operate various types of industrial floor care equipment safely and efficiently for both maintenance and restoration tasks.

• Utilize automated floor care equipment to clean large areas of floor surface in an efficient and thorough manner.

• Carry out carpet and upholstery care procedures, including shampooing, damp surface cleaning, extraction, spot cleaning, and vacuuming.

• Buff, mop, sweep, and perform general floor cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and professional environment.

• Follow established safety procedures and guidelines while using chemicals, equipment, and cleaning methods.

• Provide courteous and responsive customer service to building occupants and visitors while performing floor care duties.

• Support environmental services and overall facility cleanliness by completing related floor care tasks as needed.

• Complete other floor care and environmental service duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as a floor care technician or in a closely related role is preferred.

• Proven knowledge of floor care equipment, including industrial and automated floor machines, and associated techniques.

• Demonstrated ability to perform hard-surface floor maintenance, including stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and spray cleaning.

• Ability to perform carpet and upholstery care procedures such as shampooing, extraction, spot cleaning, and vacuuming.

• Knowledge of and ability to follow established safety procedures when handling equipment, chemicals, and cleaning processes.

• Physical ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and appearance standards.

• Ability to work consistently on a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in environmental services or floor maintenance within a healthcare or similar facility is beneficial.

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors.

• Reliability and strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new floor care techniques and equipment.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in a climate-controlled hospital environment. You will work indoors using industrial and automated floor care equipment to maintain a clean, safe, and professional setting for patients, staff, and visitors. The role follows a Monday through Friday second shift schedule (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), and involves frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds as part of routine floor care tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hardeeville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
