Production Supervisor

The Position

Manage day-to-day operations for miscellaneous production departments during the second shift, to align with the company's strategic plan. Become familiar with all established policies and assure they are being followed. Coach and mentor direct reports to develop skills and keep employees engaged. Provide feedback, follow-up and tactical reporting to improve throughput. This supervisor will work second shift.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all Direct Reports
• Drive a zero-incident safety culture by focusing on detecting, solving and preventing unsafe acts, conditions and behaviors
• Plan and organize work schedules for Shift leads.
• Coach and mentor all department personnel for performance improvements.
• Control product scrap and diminish product rejections by focusing and attacking root causes of problems.
• Provide onboarding for new hires, review job expectations, job training, and safety procedures.
• Responsible for all aspects of department performance.
• Continually update KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and provide results to management.
• Responsible for Performance Management, Time Management, and employee Vacation Accruals.

• Manage work schedules for production department
• In conjunction with first shift supervisors and master scheduler, manage departments work schedules on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Maintain the labor and production matrix by allocating necessary resources and cross-training.
• Work with first shift supervisors to Plan and Organize completion of production orders within the departments.
• Champion 5'S practices throughout the plant.

• Provide Department Training
  • Coordinate employee training such as new hire, new processes, or process improvement training.
  • Provide On-the-Job Training as needed.
  • Assure safety training is completed on time.

• Get involvement in the solution of process/systems Problems
  • Achieve knowledge of production processes and strive to achieving equipment operations knowledge.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving problems by supporting available staff.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Engineering, IT, Maintenance, Tooling, Quality and Materials.
  • Formulate teams to resolve problems.

• Assure Established Policies are being followed
  • Maintain adherence to all policies, such as Employee Handbook, ISO procedures, Work Instructions, and Job Safety/EHS.
  • Create and maintain work instructions for processing and equipment maintenance.

• Handle additional duties as assigned
  • Be willing and able to take on additional work assignments and responsibilities as needed.

Compensation Range $ 90,000- $100,000 (Depending on experience)

Education

• Minimum Education: A.A. or equivalent work experience
• BA preferred

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

• Industrial Manufacturing Experience preferably in plastics (3 years plus) .
• Plastic Knowledge/Experience: Thermoplastic and thermoset processing technologies, molding materials, secondary operations, and machinery
• Strong interpersonal teambuilding and communication skills at all levels
• Exposure and understanding of automation systems in plastics manufacturing.

• Thorough knowledge of good leadership and mentoring strategies
• Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office and ERP systems
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• QS/ISO and Lean manufacturing documentation control
• Able to maintain quality standards and efficiencies levels
• Ability to read production blueprints and use basic measuring devices
