The Medical Assistant will provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and provide general support under direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness. This position requires providing service to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

High School Diploma or GED Required. Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) credentials or completion of an approved medical assistant program required. Must obtain certification within 6 months of date of hire through a recognized national professional association such as: AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) AMT (American Medical Technologists) ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants) NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions) NHA (National Healthcare Association)

AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to successfully complete general and department role based specific skills validation and competency testing.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention: Yes. On call responsibilities as directed: No. Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed: Yes. The base compensation range for this role is $17.15 - $27.28 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
