Outside Machinist

• Perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing
• Use knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing
• Perform valve and pump repair and overhaul
• Repair ship components using blueprints, sketches and sample parts
• Work with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machinery
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery

Required Education, Experience, & Skills Required Education, Experience and Skills

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Read, write and comprehend simple instructions
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
• Able to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals
• Know how to measure using a scale and tape measure
• Read, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task required
• Use of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Able to wear appropriate protective gear
• Able to physically perform essential job duties with or without accommodations
• Able to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes
• Trained in all annual NAVSEA Standard Items

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $57720 - $88483 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
