Respiratory Therapist

Job description: Overview We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide PRN respiratory care support in a clinical healthcare setting. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for administering advanced and routine respiratory treatments, managing ventilatory support systems, conducting cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures, and responding to emergency respiratory situations. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical experience in respiratory therapy, including mechanical ventilation and patient monitoring, with the ability to work flexible shifts including weekends as needed. Additional responsibilities include maintaining respiratory equipment, accurately documenting patient care, assisting with staff education, and supporting respiratory care protocol development. This position offers approximately 20 hours per week with an ongoing contract opportunity. Responsibilities Administer advanced respiratory therapies and mechanical ventilation. Provide aerosol treatments, sputum induction, IPPB, and postural drainage. Monitor and manage ventilatory support equipment. Perform cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing and blood gas analysis. Participate in emergency resuscitation procedures. Maintain and sterilize respiratory therapy equipment. Document patient treatment details accurately. Develop respiratory care protocols. Conduct staff training and education. Perform additional respiratory care duties as assigned. Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field Active Connecticut Respiratory Therapist License CRT or RRT Certification required BLS Certification required ACLS Certification preferred Experience in respiratory therapy and patient care Experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilatory support Knowledge of aerosol therapy, IPPB, sputum induction, and postural drainage Experience in blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing Ability to set up, operate, and monitor ventilatory equipment Experience with patient documentation and charting Knowledge of respiratory protocol development Ability to conduct staff training and education Strong communication and teamwork skills Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Attention to detail and time management skills Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations Flexible to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts including weekends Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 1 - 3 years Salary: $45 - $48 Hourly Bonus/Commission: No
