Substitute School SecretaryLocation: Wauseon Exempted Village Schools / Wauseon, OHEmployment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-CallPay Rate: $14.33/HourAbout the RoleDedicated School Staffing is seeking organized, friendly, and dependable Substitute School Secretaries to support school office operations when regular staff are absent. This role is essential in maintaining smooth daily operations, assisting students, families, and staff, and ensuring the front office remains a welcoming and efficient hub of the school.Key ResponsibilitiesGreet and assist students, families, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous mannerAnswer phones, direct calls, and relay messages promptlyAssist with attendance reporting, student check-ins/outs, and daily office proceduresPerform general clerical duties such as filing, copying, data entry, and organizing documentsSupport staff with scheduling, communication, and distribution of informationMaintain confidentiality of student and staff informationFollow district policies, safety procedures, and office protocolsProvide support during emergencies, drills, or unexpected situationsCollaborate with administrators and office staff to ensure smooth school operationsRequired QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderClean criminal background checksObtain Ohio ID account & enroll in Ohio rapback programStrong communication and customer service skillsBasic computer proficiency (email, word processing, office software)Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environmentProfessionalism, reliability, and attention to detailAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive informationAdherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio EducatorsPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrevious experience in office administration, customer service, or school settingsFamiliarity with student information systems or office softwareAbility to remain calm and flexible during fast-paced or unexpected situationsWhat We OfferFlexible schedulingOpportunities to gain experience in school administrationPotential pathways to other school-based rolesPotential for long-term substitute opportunitiesOptions for minor medical benefitsEnrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
