Registered Nurse Operating Room

The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team. They plan and implement patient and family education. The RN is responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate interventions for patients. They collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation. The RN analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues. They identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation. The RN develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. They implement the identified plan of care. The RN employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. They systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The RN attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. They evaluate their own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines. The RN interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. They collaborate with patients, families, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. The RN integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice. They integrate research findings into practice. The RN provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The RN demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. They have the ability to work in a busy and stressful environment. The RN shows creativity, problem analysis, and decision-making abilities. They can work varied shifts. The RN exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality. They are self-directed, completing assignments accurately, thoroughly, and with minimal oversight. The RN possesses strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Stroke Competency: The RN complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to the care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke. They participate in initial cerebrovascular disease education within one year of hire. The RN participates in annual cerebrovascular disease education. Shift Notes: This position requires flexibility to cover all shifts. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts due to low census or other unforeseen circumstances.
