Summary/Objective:The Senior Asset Manager – Special Assets must demonstrate attention to detail, organization, analytical orientation, risk mitigation, and possess the initiative to work in an independent and reliable manner. In this important role, the Senior Asset Manager - Special Assets will provide exceptional service to our clients, both internal and external, and proactively mitigate risks for a portfolio of multifamily and senior housing loans. The Senior Asset Manager – Special Assets will possess the ability to identify existing and emerging risks from both a financial and physical condition perspective and make risk mitigating recommendations to management. Essential Functions:Review annual and quarterly financial statement analyses for multifamily and senior housing properties identifying individual property and portfolio level trendsPerform property inspections nationwide (requires about 25% travel), complete inspection reports, and make risk mitigating recommendations to reduce financial, operational, and reputational risks for the lendersAnalyze trouble assets, including non-performing and distressed properties to determine appropriate next stepsManage a portfolio of high-risk loans, monitoring performance and implementing risk mitigation strategiesRegularly review risk ratings on properties using both an internal matrix and various agency guidelinesConsistently review and analyze portfolio level data to identify emerging risks both at the individual deal level as well as portfolio levelRecommend transition to and from Special Assets when it is apparent that a property has materially declined or improvedReview and approve replacement reserve disbursement requests based on property condition and future capital needsReview and approve releases from other escrows including repairs, insurance loss, rental achievement, etc.,Understand and assist in the review of special requests such as transfers, easements, partial releases, management changes, insurance losses, etc. on high-risk loansPrepare analyses and reports as required by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and JLL for Special AssetsIdentify and evaluate troubled markets and sub-markets and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholdersIdentify and evaluate trends in actual property operations compared to underwritten property operationsUse technology and other available tools to identify potential mortgage fraudAttend industry conferences and calls to stay apprised of new developmentsAssist in developing and writing internal policies and procedures, as requiredOther duties as deemed necessaryQualifications Required:Strong analytical and financial modeling skillsKnowledge of real estate markets, valuation methodologies, and loan structuresStrong Microsoft Excel and Word proficiencyStrong math, verbal, writing, and organizational skillsStrong time management skills and ability to operate under demanding deadlinesAbility to multitask and work on several transactions simultaneouslyAbility to recognize and mitigate riskExcellent attention to detailAbility to work independently and in teamsAbility to travel as neededEducation:Undergraduate degree in a business related field (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business)Experience:Four years experience in multifamily and/or commercial real estate finance or property management.Physical Demands: Must be able to physically inspect multiple residences and common areas at multiple apartment complexes, as well as inspect comparable properties within the market. Employee must be able to physically move about the apartment complexes, which shall require standing and walking for extended periods of time, and climbing stairs. Inspections may also require the ability to sit, reach, and bend. Position requires travel up to 25% of time.
