The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Bridge Design Section, is looking for an Engineer/Architect 1 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!Base Salary Information (Starting salary may be approved up to Step D, if criteria are met.): Engineer/Architect 1: $3,741.75 - $4145.25 biweekly (OT Ineligible)What you will be doing:Perform structural engineering analysis and calculations for the development of bridge load ratings, bridge management tasks, and overload permit assessment.Complete bridge safety inspections, including routine, non-redundant steel tension member (NSTM), low water, and in-depth inspections.Some design and preparation of bridge construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and report tasks may be involved as well.Our organization, mission and culture:The DOT&PF Bridge Section provides design services for new bridge and bridge rehabilitation construction projects, as well as a broad range of services associated with the existing inventory of the State's 1,000 public highway bridges. Travel opportunities throughout the State are available.Who we are looking for:Structural Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the design and analysis of complex structures using a variety of materials. Note: Positions in this class require professional registration as either an Engineer or an Architect. The employer will designate which professional field is required for each position. Special Note: Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b).
