About the Job You're Considering

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will help develop reliable, real-time software for unmanned robotic vehicles. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and support. Working in an open, collaborative engineering environment, you will translate customer needs into software that supports vehicle control, programmable actuators, and perception sensors. This role is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex embedded systems challenges and improving software quality through disciplined design, testing, and continuous refactoring.

Your Role

• Participate in the full embedded software lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Develop embedded software features for unmanned robotic vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects in development and deployed systems.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to ensure successful integration.
• Develop maintainable C/C++ code using design patterns, SOLID principles, and reusable architectures.
• Apply test-driven practices through unit, integration, and simulation-based testing.
• Utilize distributed version control tools and support fielded systems, with up to 15% travel as needed.

Your Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7+ years of experience developing embedded real-time software in C/C++ for embedded processors.
• Experience with large, multithreaded embedded applications running on an RTOS.
• Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and their interaction with embedded software.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Experience with software engineering best practices, including refactoring, testing, version control, design patterns, and SOLID principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience developing device drivers and/or using embedded flash-programming tools.
• Knowledge of unmanned vehicle systems, control systems, ROS, or ROS 2.
• Experience with communication protocols such as TCP, UDP, CAN, SPI, and RS-232.
• Experience integrating sensors including GPS, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic systems.

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $73,150 to $174,000

Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.

The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.

It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
