BJC Medical Group is offering a unique inpatient cardiology opportunity designed for cardiologists seeking balance without sacrificing impact. We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiologist to join our inpatient cardiology team in a weekday-focused role at Memorial Hospital Belleville.

This position is intentionally structured as an alternative to traditional cardiology hospitalist models and is designed to support consistency, and long-term sustainability. Unlike many traditional hospitalist models, this role offers allowed time off, and dedicated CME days , providing flexibility to schedule time away when its most convenient for you . This structure creates intentional, protected time off throughout the year while maintaining a consistent weekly schedule resulting in more reliable and uninterrupted personal time.

Physicians in this role provide inpatient cardiology care on a Monday through Friday schedule, offering a great work-life balance with limited weekends.

Position Overview

• Join a growing team of 3 interventional cardiologists, 4 non-interventional cardiologists and 3 APPs
• Inpatient cardiology coverage on a MondayFriday schedule
• Physician-led environment supported by one of the regions most trusted health systems.
• Advanced Practice Provider support for inpatient rounding , allowing physicians to focus on complex clinical decision-making
• Integrated cardiology service line within BJC Medical Group
• Strong support from on-site cardiac and vascular teams
• Strong operational and administrative support
• Shared call 1:4 or better
• Weekend rounding responsibilities shared with interventional cardiologist

Role Purpose

The physician will provide professional medical services within the practicing Specialty to the best of physicians ability through direct patient care and spend additional time as necessary to perform other related duties such as completing medical records, providing MyChart consultations and inbasket management, conducting patient-specific education and collaborating with advanced practice providers and care team members.

Responsibilities

• Manages the medical care of patient panel by providing or otherwise arranging for inpatient hospital care of physicians patients, either through regular hospital rounds, making arrangements with one or more hospitalist(s) or other qualified physician to provide coverage for physicians hospitalized patients consistent with Medical Staff requirements.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the care team to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at the clinic location(s) designated by BJC and any other BJC clinical outreach location to which physician may be assigned as patient care demands.
• Performs and documents medical histories and physicals in the patients medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.
• Provides or arranges for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in a manner acceptable to BJC and in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws, while observing and following all BJC policies and procedures and all applicable legal, ethical and professional standards.
• Collaborates and teaches advanced practice providers, support staff or any care team member assigned in the care of physicians patient panel.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
